Tuesday 4th october :
The cave
We went into a cave after. We were still a bit tired from the hell that we have been through. While going downstairs to the cave :
Sara said, “I find it it’s very slippery and scary”
It had lots of stalagmites and stalactites and they are very very big !
There are also people who make tags in the walls from the cave.eaven and Hell
We started the day with a visit inside the caves
•Hell/ Cehenem
First there was “Hell” which is 128 meters deep. Unfortunately we couldn’t go down because the walls are not stable. But we still had a nice view thanks to the transparent platform under our feet. According to Greek mythology, Typhoon sometimes wrestled with Zeus here. This place has been called Hell since the Typhoon managed to beat it and lock it inside.
•Heaven/Cennet
It is approximately 70 meters deep. We all had the possibility to go down in it thanks to the stone stairs. We could also see the old Church of the Virgin Mary there. This monument is on a rectangular plan and there were 8 windows openings to the north but also 6 to the south. The vault is barrel-vaulted and it is the only example of a church with a naos and an open roof. This church has a room for monks called pastaforion. It was also used as a mosque in the 1850s.We did the opposite way to go back up “Oh it’s too loud!” , exclaimed a Latvian to talk about the aluminum staircase, there was not too much explanation it was short but it was a nice ride. They then served us grapes on the table after finishing the visit inside the cave, we then took the bus to go eat and on the way we saw a very cuddly cat. In Turkey the cats are super sociable.Tien, from Belgium said : in the afternoon, we enjoyed the sea with everybody and played ball in the sea. The other girls, Sara, Alina and Giovanna went with me and swimmed, after they stayed in the sand and talked with Emilja, the Letonese girl. The sea was very salty, it stung the eyes and the temperature was perfect for diving.
Giovanna, from Belgium said :
So we went to the beach in Silifke. We were in Susanoğlu Plajı at 1 pm . The sea is actually behind our teacher’s hotel so they have a view on it. We were really lucky thanks to the sun. It was really shiny and hot. Thanks to this activity we got to know each other, because everyone was playing together. And some people were just talking about their culture, their language etc.
Unfortunately this is one of the most polluted sea in the world and the water was really salty. When we swallow the water our throat was hurting and when the water came into our eyes it was hurting too. This moment will still a really good moment for everyone and it’s was really rewarding for all of the pupels. And everyone had fun.
